History

IJN Yamashiro was the sister ship of Fuso, built at Yokosuka Naval Arsenal. She served as Vice Admiral Nishimura's flagship during the suicidal charge into Surigao Strait. After Fuso was destroyed, Yamashiro pressed forward alone into the waiting American battle line and was sunk by concentrated gunfire and torpedoes.
