History

The Osaka Army Arsenal (Osaka Hohei Kosho) was the largest military arsenal operated by the Imperial Japanese Army. Founded in 1870, by World War II it sprawled across a vast area in central Osaka, employing tens of thousands of workers producing artillery pieces, shells, tanks, and other ordnance. It was heavily bombed in 1945. After the war, the site was converted into Osaka Castle Park and the Osaka Business Park.
